Dela Ward MCA breaks silence, accuses Wajir Governor of masterminding his alleged abduction
The MCA said his abduction was purely political, stemming from disagreement with the governor on a county budget which they had disapproved at the assembly before later taking it to court.
Wajir County's Dela Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Hussein, who reunited with his family last month after he went missing in September last year, broke his silence on Friday, accusing Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi of plotting his alleged abduction.
In a press conference in Nairobi, the MCA said his abduction was purely political, stemming from disagreement with the governor on a county budget, which they had disapproved at the assembly before later taking it to court.

"There was much speculation on my abduction, but today I want to reveal that my woes began after having a bitter disagreement with the governor on a budget we refused to approve together with some few MCAs," he said.
The MCA who served the assembly as the minority leader alleged that before his abduction, the Wajir County security committee headed by the county commissioner was used by the governor to intimidate him.
He said the county commissioner called him in person some days before his abduction, urging him to stop his influence on the county budget approval.
Yussuf said he told him off, insisting it was his oversight role as an elected leader not to approve any budget that is not beneficial to those he represented. Yussuf said he further told the county commissioner to stick to his administrative work.

Friction with County Commissioner
"Three days later, I received another phone call from the county commissioner saying I should appear before the security committee over allegations of insecurity-related problems in my ward," he said.
"I told him there are no existing incidents of insecurity in my ward and he should write an official summon letter from the security committee. I told him I will not honour any verbal summons."
A day later, he said he received a summon letter from the Office of the County Commissioner to which he houred it where he dismissed the alleged insecurity in Dela ward and accusations leveled against him.
He further stated that they took the disputed budget to a Nairobi court after it was approved by a section of the members.
Three days to his abduction, the MCA claimed to have received a call from an MCA whom they selected to lead the team opposed to the disputed budget in a meeting called by the Wajir Governor in Nairobi.
The governor is said to have wanted to meet all MCAs who were opposed to the budget.
"I traveled to Nairobi for the meeting that was planned to take place two days before I was waylaid by armed masked men. There was no planned meeting; the governor wanted me to come to Nairobi where he plotted the abduction since he knew my firm stand over the disputed budget," he alleged.
The MCA, who could not reveal his abductors and where he was held since his disappearance, made a public announcement that in case anything happens to him, the governor should be held responsible.
"I was illegally detained for six months, and the abductors were asking me questions on my relationship with the governor," he stated.
The Wajir Governor, who had been vocal and agitating for the release of the MCA after he was abducted, is yet to respond to the allegations made by the Dela Ward MCA.
